What You Will Learn During the Training on the Flooring System: Microconcrete
The training consists of both theoretical and practical parts. It is conducted by two professionals who work daily with this and other products from the Bautech FUTURA brand.
THEORETICAL PART
Introduction to Microconcrete Technology
Goal: Provide fundamental knowledge of the technology and materials involved.
- What is microconcrete: definition, properties, applications
- Differences between polished concrete, microcement, resin, architectural concrete
- Aesthetics and durability – benefits for investors
2. How to Control the Visual Effect
- Color selection
- Unique burns and effects – what they depend on and why agreements with the investor are necessary before starting the project
- Finish options: matte, satin, gloss
3. Technical and Design Conditions
- Substrate assessment: load-bearing capacity, moisture, expansion joints, existing installations
- Design requirements: floor thickness, concrete classes, reinforcement
- Planning of joints and stress-prone zones
4. Composition and Selection of Concrete Mix
- Key parameters: cement, aggregate, plasticizing additives, fibers
- How to select the mix composition for polishing and aesthetics
- The role of concrete curing in the final result
5. Technological Process
- Execution stages: pouring, fresh concrete processing, cutting of joints, curing, grinding, impregnation
- Factors affecting quality and consistency
- Most common mistakes and their consequences (mapping, discoloration, cracks)
6. Machines and Tools
- Overview of grinding and polishing machines (planetary, single- and triple-disc)
- Selection of diamond segments and pads depending on the stage of work
- Dust extraction systems and occupational safety
7. Chemicals for Polished Concrete
- Silicate hardeners (silicates, lithium silicates, potassium silicates, etc.)
- Impregnators, sealers, and curing agents
- Recommended products and application schemes
PRACTICAL PART
Goal: Gain hands-on experience with machine operation, chemical application, substrate assessment, and finish aesthetics.
1. Substrate Preparation and Initial Condition Assessment
- Surface evaluation, hardness testing, identifying expansion joints
- Choosing an execution strategy and defining the finishing system
2. Simulation of Full Floor Execution (on a test panel)
- Initial grinding – removal of cement laitance
- Application of chemical hardener (e.g., silicates)
- Subsequent grinding and polishing stages – pad selection
- Final surface finishing: satin / high gloss
- Application of the final impregnator
3. Machine Operation and Work Techniques
- Training on the use of planetary grinders (with operator guidance)
- Segment replacement, optimization of machine settings
- Safety and ergonomics during work
4. Repairs and Corrections
- Filling microcracks, surface leveling
- Rectifying issues: e.g., non-uniform structure, discoloration
5. Presentation of Final Results and Quality Assessment
- Comparison of surfaces with different finishes
- Review of investor acceptance criteria
- Discussion: Q&A session
